Ashe Baha'i Community

The oneness of God, the oneness of humanity, the oneness of the world religions and how out of the present darkness, the coming maturity of the human race is inevitable will be the topics of discussion open to those interested in these spiritual concepts. There will also be an open prayer time. Discussion is open to other points of view and will be held at 7 p.m. every Thursday. Bald Mountain Baptist Church

Vacation Bible School will be held for all ages with the theme of Amazing Wonders Aviation. Kick-off will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, June 9 with games and crafts. A hotdog and hamburger dinner will be served from 5 to 6 p.m. VBS will continue June 10-14 with a meal at 5:15 p.m. and a worship rally at 6 p.m. with Bible study at Victoria Falls. Beaver Creek Baptist Church

The WMU will hold a yard and bake sale, beginning at 7 a.m., Friday and Saturday, May 18-19. Featured will be lots of baked goods and various items for sale. Proceeds will benefit the church building fund.

Vacation Bible School will be held June 9-15 with theme of “Amazing Wonders Aviation.”A special kickoff event will be held Saturday, June 9, at the Wheels and Wings air show at Ashe County Airport. All VBS participants from any church group will be admitted to the air show for only $4. Classes will be available for all ages. A light supper will be served each evening. Bethany United Methodist Church

Big Laurel Baptist Church

Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union

Calvary Baptist Church

Clifton United Methodist Church

A spaghetti supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday, May 26, at the Riverview Community Center, sponsored by the Clifton United Methodist Church. The cost is a donation of $7 for adults and $3 for children under 12. Proceeds will be used for the building fund and other ministries. Spaghetti will be served by a real Italian chef.

 

Edge Ministries

Edge Ministries invites everyone to come and join them to “experience and discover God every day.” They meet at Jefferson Station with Dr. Rick Barker as the pastor. Service times are Sundays at 10:30 a.m. and Thursdays at 7 p.m.

The Storehouse, an extension of Edge Ministries, is now open at Jefferson Station from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and accepting donations. The goal is to use funds from the thrift store to increase the ministry to the community. Future plans include adding a food pantry in the future. The Storehouse features clothing, jewelry, art and house wares.

 

Faith Fellowship

From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Friday, May 18, Xianzhi “Sarah” Liu will give her testimony after being imprisoned and tortured for six years in China for her faith in Jesus Christ. The program is sponsored by The Voice of the Martyrs, Faith Fellowship and Community Church of Mountain City, Tenn. Liu will speak at Faith Fellowship at 676 South Main Street in Jefferson. Faith Fellowship meets every Sunday at 676 South Main Street, Jefferson, between the towns. Sunday school/Bible study begins at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays, with worship at 11 a.m. A nursery and children's church program are available. Feed the Lambs

Feed the Lambs needs your help. A donation of one food item per week will keep this ministry going strong. Fletcher Memorial Baptist Church

Dr. Larry Tyler will be speaking at the 10 a.m. worship service on Sunday, May 20. He is the dean of students from Piedmont International University. He received his master of divinity from Southeaster Seminary. The pastor is Russell Hart.

Life Hurts God Heals

Life Hurts God Heals (LHGH) meets every Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Highlands Community Church located at 787 Ray Taylor Road, West Jefferson. This is a biblical eight-step study group for teens.
