An April fundraiser by N.C. Pagans Outdoors will benefit DrumsForCures.

N.C. Pagans Outdoors, a non-profit group based in Ashe County, has been involved in charitable giving for more than a decade and promotes family and building community locally and throughout North Carolina. Every few years, the group selects a charity and gives back to the community in the spirit of love, giving and service.

Drumstrong in the Mountains/Drum Your Ashe Off Against Cancer will be an all daylong event, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on April 14 at the old Lansing School in Lansing. The event will feature world-class drumming facilitators and hands-on drumming all day. Vendors, activities for all ages, a health expo featuring local massage and reiki practitioners, health and wellness resources and organizations and alternative/ holistic remedies will also be featured. The day will conclude with a live Celtic/Primal/Folk concert by Tuatha Dea from Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Since 2006, DrumsForCures, Inc., has presented Drumstrong, which can best be described as “drumming crazy long periods of time to beat cancer.” The event is a drum-a-thon in a festival format that brings attention to cancer health resources, supporting survivorship, raising funds and awareness for local, national and global cancer.

Local cancer initiatives and health resource organizations are encouraged to participate in Drumstrong events.
