In honor of William Shakespeare’s birthday and in memory of Don Quixote author, Miguel de Cervantes, free books will be given away.

Volunteers from Ashe County Public Library will help distribute 240 free books in the county on Tuesday, April 23, for World Book Night.

Volunteers will visit grocery stores, restaurants, the West Jefferson Park and the high school track meet to give books away.

“We will be spreading the love of reading and encouraging literacy by giving away books to light or non-readers on this day,” Ashe County Librarian Suzanne Moore said. “We want to encourage others to join us next year so we can expand our reach to more.”
