Happy Tails Pet Rescue of West Jefferson is planning two fundraisers to help in its mission to take care of animals in Ashe County.

The first event will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, and Sunday, Sept. 29, during the National Alpaca Farm Days at Landmark Farm Alpacas.

HTPR will assist with parking and sell raffle tickets. Proceeds from the sale of tickets will help the group rescue and find homes for pets in need.

The farm is located at 1118 Landmark Church Road in Grassy Creek. The event will allow attendees to meet alpacas, view educational exhibits and demonstrations by local fiber artisans, including hand spinners and weavers.

Those planning to attend the farm event are asked to leave their pets at home.

A yard sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, with proceeds assisting HTPR’s mission. Donations and volunteers are still needed for the sale.

HTPR is also looking for weekend foster parents.

“We have 10 dogs for adoption and they need some human contact and love from Saturday until Monday,” said B.J. Pim of Happy Tails Pet Supplies.

HTPR’s mission is to give High Country residents a place to bring lost or unwanted cats and dogs without fear of judgment.

The group is a small, non-profit animal rescue organization working to find homes for animals that are lost, unloved or misunderstood.

All cats and dogs for adoption are taken to the veterinarian prior to adoptions and are tested for illnesses. Spaying and neutering are required unless there is a health risk.
