Polly Jones, a retired English teacher at Ashe County High School, has been named the new executive director of the Ashe County Sharing Center.

Jones currently serves as a member of the Ashe County Board of Education. She has been active in community affairs, working to save the New River, now a National Scenic and Heritage river. She is also active in Orion Baptist Church, serving as a ladies Sunday school teacher and WMU director. She is married to Ralph Jones, retired postmaster at Crumpler. The Ashe County Sharing Center is a Christian charity founded through the efforts of Col. Bud Honeycutt. Incorporated in 1985, it grew into a multi-denominational organization supported by Ashe County churches.

The center operates a place that provides free food and clothing to more than 5,500 people each year.
