Preaching, singing, worship and a teen drama presentation will highlight the 6th annual Preaching By the Parkway camp meeting in September.

Calvary Free Will Baptist Church in Glendale Springs is hosting the event Sept. 8-13. Service times are planned at 10 a.m. Sunday morning, 6 p.m. Sunday night and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Individuals can “escape again to one of the majestic areas of God’s creation, the Blue Ridge Parkway, for a week of old-fashioned preaching, spirit-filled singing and old-time worship,” said pastor Sonny Thomas of the church. “The week is set with a lineup of power-packed preachers and anointed singers.”

The event kicks off at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, with bluegrass gospel performers, Paul Williams and the Victory Trio.

At 11 a.m., the Rev. Alan Sailors, pastor of Rocky Pass Free Will Baptist Church in Nebo will speak.

Youth and young adult night will be featured on Sunday night with a teen drama presentation. Special guests, The Calvary Reflections, will sing. The speaker will be the Rev. Henry Parker, pastor of Blevoir Free Will Baptist Church in Greenville.

A different guest evangelist will speak each evening with special music planned as well.

Evangelist Neal Hatfield will speak on Monday. He is the founder and director of Uplands Reach Conference Center in Millers Creek.

The Rev. Randy Johnson, pastor of Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton, Tenn., will speak on Tuesday night.

“Wednesday night will feature a six-church community choir for a coming together for the kingdom service,” Thomas said.

Special guests on Wednesday will be Tom and Terry Shuford and the Rev. Frank Woods, executive director of Free Will Baptist Family Ministries in Greenville, Tenn.

The Rev. Nathan Jennings, pastor of First Free Will Baptist Church in Elizabethton, Tenn., and the Rev. Rick Safriet, pastor of West Lenoir Baptist Church in Lenoir will round out the week on Thursday and Friday, respectively.

Guest singers on Friday night will be the Bill Smith Family from Taylorsville.

The church is located at 3044 Old Wilkesboro Road, just off Highway 16 and the Blue Ridge Parkway.
