Robert Turner has been hunting for years, but Friday was literally his first shot
at an elusive black bear.
Turner, of Trinity, shot the 300-pound creature during an early morning hunting excursion in the Piney Creek community.
"He went about 50 yards after I shot him," said Turner. "I heard him cry out a few minutes after and I said, 'I must have hit him.'"
Turner shot the bear with a .50 caliber muzzleloader.
