The Ashe County High School choir is proud to announce that two of their very own have been chosen through audition to participate in the 2014 High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall.

Calli Phipps and Heather Travers were nominated in April. By being nominated, the girls were required to fill out an application and record a vocal music CD to be sent in by June.

The series at Carnegie Hall challenges elite students to perform at their very best. Students rehearse and perform under master conductors and have the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall before invited representatives from collegiate and professional music programs.

They will also rehearse and interact with other finalists from across the United States, Canada and select international schools.

On Oct. 31, Phipps and Travers were informed that they both were selected to participate in this prestigious group of high school students.

Both girls are very excited and have begun raising funds in preparation to travel to New York Feb. 6 to 10, for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
