Organizers of the annual “Just Say No to Drugs” coloring contest say this year's campaign was a huge success.

Main Street Marketing, High Country business owners and the Ashe County school system teamed up to promote the important message against drugs. The coloring book, sponsored by local businesses, was delivered to Ashe County elementary schools in October and the contest was completed before Christmas break. This year over 2,550 pages were colored for the contest.

The $200 grand prize winner this year was Madison Warner. She won first prize for coloring the most pictures. A $25 prize was rewarded to the student with the best quality and creativity for each grade.

The first prize winners were:

• Kindergarten: Tyler Brooks, Della Walls and Jillian Miller.

• First grade: Bryant Blevins, Sherry Billings and Eli Reed.

• Second grade: Olivia Lewis, Abigail Garcia and Cora Billings.

• Third grade: Kurt Jones, Khela Turnmire and Makayla Turnmire.

•Fourth grade: Karoline Keith, Jordan Carlton, Ashley Tilley.

•Fifth grade: Madison Warner, Rachael Weaver and Esther Riley.

The second prize winners were:

• Kindergarten: Kevin Rash, Landon Jordan, Tiera Blevins.

• First grade: Richard Silva, Emma Durr and Serria Hamm.

• Second grade: Harley Cox, Landon Hoppers and Josh Treadway.

• Third grade: Destiny Thomas, Emma Goodman and Alexis Blevins.

• Fourth grade: Alexis Taylor and Abby Cockerham.

• Fifth grade: Dakota Passmore, Kevin Elliot and Wendy Escabodo.

In addition to the prizes, the classroom with the most colored pages won a pizza party. Ben Cox, owner of Main Street Marketing, delivered pizza to Blue Ridge Elementary and Mrs. Susan Poe's fifth grade class in January.

Each school will receive a large, framed poster of the winning colored picture from that school.

The winners were Wendy Escabodo from Mountain View Elementary, Kevin Elliot from Westwood Elementary and Karoline Keith from Blue Ridge Elementary.
