Ronny Alan Cherry, 53, of West Jefferson, was arrested on Feb. 20, following a joint investigation between the Ashe County Sheriffs Office and the West Jefferson Police Department, and charged with 10 counts of first degree sex offense with a child, according to information released Feb. 25 by the ACSO. 


Cherry remains in the Ashe County Detention Center on $400,000 bond. 

Robert Doyle Cox, 31, of Lansing, was arrested on Feb. 19 by the ACSO, and charged with assault on a female, communicating threats, and probation violation. Doyle is currently held on $32,500 bond. 

Ricky Lee Ellison, 48, of Lansing, was arrested on Feb. 21, by the ACSO and charged with domestic criminal trespass, and harassing phone call. Ellison was released on Feb. 22. 

Danny Cole Lawrence, 41, of Grassy Creek, was arrested on Feb. 21, by the ACSO, and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of methamphetamine, and possession with intent to manufacture/sell/distribute methamphetamine. Lawrence was released on Feb. 22.

Necia Kimberly Mahala, 20, of Creston, was arrested on Feb. 21, by the ACSO, and charged with shoplifting concealment goods. Mahala was released on Feb. 23.

James Ray Stanley, 33, of Creston, was arrested on Feb. 21 by the WJPD, and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of methamphetamine. Stanley was released on Feb. 21.

Bobby Lee Boggs, 41, of Jefferson, was arrested on Feb. 22, by the ACSO, and charged with simple assault. Boggs was later released on Feb. 22.

William Edward Ross, 28, of Crumpler, was arrested on Feb. 22, by the ACSO, and charged with selling a scheduled II controlled substance, delivery of schedule II controlled substance, and driving while license revoked. Ross was later released on Feb. 22. 

George Carson Shumate, 67, of Lansing, was arrested on Feb. 23, by the ACSO, and charged with resisting public officer. Shumate was later released on Feb. 24.

Virgil Neal Osborne, 44, of Creston, was arrested on Feb. 24, by the ACSO, and charged with assault with deadly weapon with intent to kill, and resisting public officer. Osborne remains in the Ashe County Detention Center on $76,000 bond.
