Bear or buck

While out deer hunting about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, in
the Crumpler Area of Ashe County, Tony Lyall saw this black bear about to attack an 8-point buck.
Lyall chose to shoot the bear instead of the buck. The weight of the bear is estimated between 450
and 500 pounds, and the age between 6 and 8 years old. This photo was taken in front of West
Jefferson Town Hall and Town Planner Matthew Levi came outside to get a look at the
