A wintry blast left a fine icy coating on tree limbs and exposed surfaces throughout Ashe County early Saturday morning.

A second round of frozen precipitation brought a fresh two inches of snow, along with gusty winds, to the county by Sunday morning.

Temperatures had rebounded by late Monday morning to surpass the freezing mark.

The High Country's latest bout with Old Man Winter followed a shot of high winds that ripped through the county last week.

According to Blue Ridge Electric, nine locations, affecting 44 members, encountered power outages on Dec. 27. The majority of these outages were reported in the Todd community.
