Ashe County firefighters battled a three alarm structure fire at a home in the Boggs community that started shortly before noon Wednesday.

Although the cause of the house fire, located at 4643 NC 163, was not immediately available, crews from Jefferson, West Jefferson, and Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Departments, in addition to support from the Ashe County Rescue Squad, continued to extinguish the flames as smoke poured from the structure, where only the brick exterior was left standing. A nearby metal structure remained intact, although the intensity of the flames melted the building's vinyl siding.

No one was injured in the fire, as the homeowners were not home at the time the blaze started, according to the Captain of the Ashe County Rescue Squad Ricky Roark.
