Unbeaten Ashe County High senior Josh Wineberg earned the top seed for the Class 2-A Midwest Regional wrestling tournament, which got under way Friday at Piedmont High in Monroe.

Wineberg is the top seed in the 285-pound class.

Other Huskies earning a seed for the two-day event that concludes Saturday were Michael Elliott, seeded second at 132 pounds, and William Miller, seeded fourth at 182.

Wrestlers were competing Friday through the championship quarterfinals round and the second-round consolations.
