Mrs. Cleo Marie Pennington Jones, 70, of Lansing passed away Monday evening, January 23, 2012, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at Boone Family Funeral Home with theRev. Clifford Brewer, the Rev. Russell Sheets and the Rev. Jimmy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Clint Gilley Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m.-9 p.m. on Friday, January 27, 2012, at Boone Family Funeral Home.
Mrs. Jones was born in Ashe County on Thursday, March 20, 1941, to the late Halford Pennington and Mary Ward Pennington Turner. She attended Baptist Home Church.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Harrison (Lum) Jones; a son, William Richard Jones; four brothers, Jack Pennington, JC Pennington, Robert Pennington and Dean Pennington; and two sisters, Norma Denny and Lois Wyatt.
Mrs. Jones is survived by two sons, Kevin Jones of Crumpler, and Roger Turnmire and wife, Kimberly, of Fleetwood; four daughters, Rebecca Fletcher and husband, Melvin, of West Jefferson, Phyllis Blevins of Lansing, Kathy McFadden and husband, David, of Crumpler, and Tiffany Stamm of West Jefferson; three sisters, Gail Turnmire and husband, Jim, of West Jefferson, Christina Brown and husband, Ray, of Oxford PA, and Jodie Pennington of West Jefferson; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
