Donald 'Donnie' Thompson

Mr. Thompson was born on Sept. 16, 1947, in Ashe County, to the late Conley and Lou Sheets Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, E.J. Hart.
Mr. Thompson was an Army veteran serving in the Vietnam era stationed in Germany, from 1968-1970. He retired from United Chemi-Con after 43 years. Mr. Thompson was very active at his church, Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral services were held 12 p.m. Friday, May 3, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Pastor Jeff Brown.
Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Friday prior to the service at Ashelawn.
Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Angie Eldreth Thompson of Jefferson; daughters, Angela Thompson Lowhorn and husband, James, of Evans, Ga., and April Denise Thompson of Hickory; brothers, Robert "Bob" Thompson of Jefferson, and Ronald "Ronnie" Thompson of Taylorsville; sisters, Betty Duvall of Crumpler, Pat Tedder of King, and Cara Lee Segraves of West Jefferson; grandchildren, Evan Westley Lowhorn, and Avery Denise Lowhorn; and several nieces and nephews.
