Esta Mae Barr Patton

Mrs. Esta Mae Barr Patton, 97, of Lansing, passed away Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the Hill View Family Care Home in Todd.

Mrs. Patton was born April 22, 1916, in Ashe County to Harrison and Rosa Love Barr. She worked at Sprague Electric until she retired in 1978. After retirement, she worked at Mt. Jefferson Child Development Daycare, where she took care of children as a foster grandparent. She worked there until she was 85, at which time she had a stroke.

Esta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Calvin Patton; three brothers and three sisters.

Mrs. Patton is survived by two daughters, Pat Blackburn of Lansing and Margaret Stanley and husband, John, of Warrensville; one stepdaughter, Jackie Matthews of Smithfield; one brother, Jimmy Barr of Moravian Falls; one sister, Lilly Frasier of Moravian Falls; three grandsons, Mark, Jerry and Lee; one great-grandson, Caleb; also surviving are two stepgrandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Grateful thanks are given to two special friends, Debbie Hart and Betty Calhoun for the care given.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Tommy Dollar. Burial followed in Lansing Graybeal Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. on Sunday prior to the service.
