Ethel Emma Poe Davis

Mrs. Ethel Emma Poe Davis, 89, of Crumpler, died on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012, at her residence.
Mrs. Davis was born on March 25, 1923, in Ashe County to William "Will" Jessie and Gussie Hunt Poe.
Including her parents, Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, William Garvie Davis Sr.; two brothers, Earl Poe, Gaither Poe; sister, Kathleen Laprad; infant sister, Edna Poe; infant great-grandchildren, Jacob Miller and Carter Miller.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Senter Primitive Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ethel enjoyed canning, working in her garden and quilting.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at the Senter Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Bobby Absher and Elder Edward Bowman. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at Badger Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis is survived by six sons, Garvie Davis Jr. of the home, Randall Davis and wife, Peggy, of Crumpler, Earl Davis and wife, Brenda, of Crumpler, Larry Davis and wife, Evangeline, of Laurel Springs, Jessie Davis and wife, Michele, of Cumpler, Dennis Davis and wife, Debbie, of Laurel Springs; two daughters, Grace Miller and husband, Tony, of Laurel Springs, Rita Severt and husband, Billy, of Jefferson; sister, Lena Cox of Laurel Springs; also surviving are 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
