Georgia Mae Miller Lewis Bryant

Mrs. Georgia Mae Miller Lewis Bryant, 94, of West Jefferson, died Monday evening, January 23, 2012, at Glenbridge Nursing Care Center.

Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012, at First Baptist Church of West Jefferson with the Rev. Ken Morris and the Rev. Michael Lea officiating. Burial followed in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family received friends from 1 p.m.t o 2 p.m. on Saturday one hour prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Bryant was born in Ashe County on Saturday, January 12, 1918, to the late George A. and Mae Calloway Miller. She was a hairdresser and the proprietor at Magic Mirror. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in West Jefferson.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dennis Lewis. Later she married John Bryant. They lived in North Wilkesboro until his death. She was also preceded by two brothers; Allan Miller and Harry Lee Miller; and one sister, Hazel Miller Hodge.

Mrs. Bryant is survived by a son, Dennis (Van) Lewis of Orange Park, FL; two step-sons, John Knox Bryant of Millers Creek and Bill Bryant of North Wilkesboro; a brother, Jimmy Miller of West Jefferson; four sisters, Betty Monroe of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Mary Nell Weaver of West Jefferson, Silver Abernethy of Drexel, NC, and Sallie Scott of West Jefferson; two step-grandchildren, Beth Roe and Scott Bryant; two step-great-grandchildren, Ansley Bryant and Isabel Grace Roe; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 180, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
