Mr. Howard Glenn Barker, 73, of Jefferson, NC died Thursday,
February 16, 2012, at his home. Mr. Barker was born on May 1, 1938 in Ashe County, to the late
James and Pearl Jones Barker. Mr. Barker was a member of Greens Chapel Baptist Church. He and
Josie were married for 51 years. He was housekeeping supervisor at Ashe Memorial Hospital for
33 years. He loved music, playing the guitar and car racing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Russell Sheets and the Rev. Guy Testerman. Burial will follow in Howell Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012, at Badger Funeral Home Chapel.
Mr. Barker is survived by his wife, Josie Price Barker; one son: Ronnie Barker and wife, Sherry, of Wilkesboro; three daughters, Sherry Segraves and husband, Garnett, of Fleetwood, Janet Barr and husband, Kenneth, of Jefferson, and Tena Bott and husband, Tracy, of Glade Spring, VA; two sisters:,Myrtle Dean South of Jefferson and Reba Benson of Lansing; two brothers-in-law: Bob Price and Bill Price both of Creston; five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one step-grandchild, three step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
