Mrs. Martha Elena Osborne Johnson, 85, of Creston passed away Sunday morning, February 2, 2012, at her daughter's home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Big Laurel Church of Christ in Christian Union with Rev. Darrell Graybeal and Rev. Mike Farmer officiating. The body lay in state one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial followed in the Johnson Family Cemetery.

The family received friends Tuesday, February 7, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mrs. Johnson was born in Ashe County on Monday, June 7, 1926, to the late Fieldon and Danford Price Osborne.

She is survived by two sons, James Johnson of Creston, and Michael Johnson and wife, Shelia, of Creston; a daughter, Mildred Graybeal and husband, Darrell, of Creston; three brothers, Earnest Osborne of Creston, Dale Osborne of Creston, and Clay Osborne of Mountain City; eight grandchildren, Lena Roland of West Jefferson, Lynn Farmer and husband, Anthony, of Creston, Kenneth Graybeal and wife, Nancy, of Roaring River, Kimberly William and husband, Shannon, of Marion VA, Daniel Graybeal and wife, Michelle, of West Jefferson, Deborah Hess and husband, Thad, of Jefferson, Charles Johnson and fiancèe, Madison South, of Jefferson, and Andrea Johnson of Creston; twelve great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
