Mr. Marvin Edward Osborne, 88, of West Jefferson passed away Monday morning, January 30, 2012 at Margate Health and Rehab Center.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 11 am at Boone Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Osborne and the Rev. Bill Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in the Ashelawn Memorial Gardens with military rites.

The family received friends on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 from 6 pm - 8 pm at Boone Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Osborne was born in Ashe County on October 19, 1923 to the late Reeves David and Lura Greer Osborne. He served in the United States Army. He retired from the Ashe County School System, where he was a Math Teacher at Beaver Creek High School. He was a member of Friendly Grove Baptist Church.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Boyd Osborne and two sisters, Clara Elliott and Ruthie Osborne.

Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife, Stella Pauline "Polly" Jones Osborne; three sons, Marvin "Ed" Osborne, Jr. and wife, Pam, of North Wilkesboro, David Keith Osborne and wife, Cindy, of Raleigh and Michael Neal Osborne and wife, Joy, of West Jefferson; a daughter, Brenda Osborne McMillan and husband, Dan, of Jefferson; a brother, Rex Osborne and wife, Louise, of West Jefferson; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews also survive.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Friendly Grove Baptist Church, 444 Buck Mountain Road, West Jefferson, NC 28694.
