Peggy Long Dollar

Mrs. Peggy Long Dollar, 85 of West Jefferson, passed away Sunday morning, April 7, 2013, at Ashe Memorial Hospital.

A memorial service was held 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ken Morris officiating.

Mrs. Dollar was born in Alleghany County on Friday, March 16, 1928, to the late Dr. Lester Lee and Lillie Tucker Long. She attended Appalachian State University and graduated from Lees-McCray College. She retired from First Union Bank, where she worked as a teller. She was a member of West Jefferson First Baptist Church. Peggy enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Walter Harold Dollar, owner of Shell Oil Company.

Mrs. Dollar is survived by a son, Larry Dollar of West Jefferson; a daughter, Linda Dollar White and husband, David, of Greensboro; a brother, John Long and wife, Patty, of Belmont; two sisters, Lucy Miller and husband, Clifford, of West Jefferson, and Louise Cashion and husband, Bob, of Cornelius; a grandson, Patrick Dollar of Greensboro; several nieces and nephews also survive.
