Mr. Ray E. Shatley, 70, of 318 Hospital Hill Road, Mountain City, Tenn., passed away Monday morning Dec. 17, 2012, at Watauga Medical Center, Boone.
He was a native of West Jefferson, a son of the late Joe and Irene Parker Shatley.
Mr Shatley was retired from the J.R. Vannoy Construction Company, his hobby was woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was a loyal and faithful member of the New Hope Baptist Church in Mountain City, Tenn.
In addition to his parents; a daughter Judy Cooper; and a son Jody Shatley preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Shatley, Mountain City, Tenn.; daughters, Deborah Shatley, Mountain City, Tenn., Angie and husband, Todd Berardi, Mountain City, Tenn.; son, Keith and wife, Mona Shatley, Mountain City, Tenn.; sisters, Lena Ruth Roten, Jefferson, Joanne Houck, Jefferson, and Dene Tomilnson, Holiday, Tenn.; brother, J.R. Shatley, West Jefferson; grandchildren, Megan, Chriss, Cheray, Chris, Shauna and Teresa; step-mother Myrtle Shatley, West Jefferson; several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; very special friends, Pastor Doug Stidham and Ginger Norris.
Ray's request was a graveside service be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012, at the Phillippi Cemetery officiated by his pastor the Rev. Douglas Stidham.
Pallbearers will be Christopher Berardi, Steve Roark, Keith Shatley, Todd Berardi, Jason Adimaro, and Jake Oliver.
There will be no formal visitation.
