Shady Dean Blevins

Mr. Shady Dean Blevins, 77, of Lansing passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 15, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services were held 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Greer, the Rev. Jim Woods and the Rev. Frank Woods officiating. Graveside services were held 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013, at Howell-Hill Cemetery.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 17, 2013, two hours prior to the funeral service.

Mr. Blevins was born in Ashe County on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 1935, to the late Maxie and Mary Ann Francis Blevins. He retired from Thomasville Furniture. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved his animals. He also enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves play.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Julia Wood Blevins; two brothers, Lester Blevins and Wilmer Blevins; three sisters, Bertha Baldwin, Lillie Blevins and Ella Mae Blevins; one son; Steve Blevins; and a daughter; Becky Blevins.

Mr. Blevins is survived by two sons, Gerald Blevins and wife, Linda, of Laurel Bloomery, Tenn., and Bobby Blevins and wife, Tammy, of Mountain City, Tenn.; a daughter, Betty Blevins, of Warrensville; two grandsons, Kevin Blevins and Justin Blevins, both of Mountain City; three great-grandchildren, Kaden Blevins and Avery Blevins, both of Mountain City and Trevor McQueen, of Shady Valley, Tenn.; several nieces and nephews also survive.
