Tressie May Taylor Greer

Mrs. Tressie May Taylor Greer, 89, of Lansing, died on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at the Margate Health and Rehab Center in Jefferson.

Mrs. Greer was born on August 20, 1924 in Ashe County to Andrew Jackson and Mary Jane Hamm Taylor. Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Onnie Greer, daughter, Betty Carpenter, granddaughter, Wanda Weaver, and all her siblings.

Mrs. Greer enjoyed gardening, canning, and she was always thinking of others. She retired from Thomasville Furniture. When her health allowed she attended Gillespie Community Church.

Funeral services were held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by the Rev. Larry Shepherd. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family received friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Greer is survived by three sons, Darrell Greer and wife, Shelby, of Lansing, Harold Greer and wife, Darleen, of Creston, and Earnest Greer and wife, Penny, of Jefferson; also surviving are 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Flowers were appreciated, or memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
