Virginia Ruth Johnson

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Johnson, 77, of Conover, formerly of Lansing, died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Mrs. Johnson was born on Sept. 19, 1935, in Shady Valley, Tenn. to the late Benjamin R. and Reba Hazel Moore. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Ray Johnson; and a brother, Raymond Moore. Mrs. Johnson worked as an inspector for Jefferson Apparel. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, cooking and baking.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Dr. Ed Yount, the Rev. Cris Alley, and the Rev. Glenn Woodie. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.
The family received friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by, son, David Johnson and wife, Linda, of Conover; daughter, Brenda Ellis and husband, Eric, of Wilkesboro; sister, Joyce Brown of Green Springs Community, Va.; brother, Robert Moore of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Carl Moore of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Dean Moore of Bristol, Va.; grandson, Brian Johnson and wife, Tarin, of East Providence, R.I.; also surviving are 10 nieces and nephews and 13 great- nieces and nephews.
Flowers were appreciated, or memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, Senior Adult Ministry, 440 7th Street Place SW, Conover, NC 28613.
